Chrysalis
The third stage of development is the pupal Lepidoptera. All processes that occur at this stage, leading to the formation of winged insect. Caterpillar ceases to receive nourishment, is a safe place and becomes a chrysalis, the cocoon surrounding. This protects the insect at the time of the total reconstruction of his body. Although the pupa is often referred to as the resting stage, because from the outside can not see what is happening in the middle, inside the huge changes taking place: the whole body caterpillar transforms into a mature butterfly. When this conversion is completed, the cocoon of the imago emerges, in no way similar to the caterpillar. Grow wings and straighten up under pressure of blood pumped into them. After a certain period of time during which the wings dry and harden, the butterfly is ready for flight.
